Review: Welcome to Sysifus Corp

Its been a long time for me since I have seen the inside of an office building. I assure you that within the four walls of Sysifus Corp is an experience unlike any office you have been in, no matter how familiar the setting. Its your first day at Sysifus Corp you and up to 3 of your coworkers are here for your first day ready to get into office politics and backstabbing. Welcome to Sysifus Corp designed by Wonmin Lee takes you from your first day through the office to suck up to three bosses and be the first to have your performance review.

Welcome to Sysifus Corp was successfully funded on kick starter in March of 2021. The game is now available for retail purchase from Pegasus Games.

This game has you taking the role of a new employee at Syisfus Corp. Starting at the new hire orientation you work your way through the labyrinth of the offices of Syisfus. To advance to the bosses you need to lay tiles and move through them. The tiles only connect on a few of the sides and sometimes on the diagonal. When you lay a tile some of them have a number on them when you move on to these tiles you gain company influence.

This game really hits on theme each of the tiles has a real funny email on them that sometimes really brings back some office memories for me.

Company influence can be used to play the Office Politics cards. The Office Politics cards enable you to manipulate the board or players positions on the board and much more. Each game you play with a subset of these cards that you choose before the game. As you wind your way through the office to visit all three bosses you can preform some other tasks to help you a long the way. If you run into a situation where you need to move through a space thats not connected (you can only move between two tiles that have yellow post-it notes connected) you can use the Memo token (yellow block) to circumvent the adjacency rule. This game really hits on theme each of the tiles has a real funny email on them that sometimes really brings back some office memories for me.

Whether you just miss the office or enjoy an office themed tile laying dungeon crawler this game delivers on the fun. The game features lots of theme right down to the rule book that is called the New Employee Welcome Manual. With easy mechanics and fun play this game would be fun in the break room or at family game night.
